Wrangler-In-Training (Age 17)

Wrangler-in-Training (WIT)

The WIT program is a two-week program where participants are in a transitional period between camper and counselor while focusing specifically on the equine program here at camp.  As a leader among the campers, they will work directly with the summer and professional staff to improve their leadership skills through the Horses program.  The WIT and CIT programs will work together in leadership sessions and special events. This program is designed for campers who have previously completed a year of leadership development at Flat Rock. WITs are required to complete an application to be accepted into the program. During the second week of camp they will work with an existing counselor in support of a cabin of younger campers to gain first-hand knowledge and skills and will receive an evaluation.

The WIT program is very helpful for 17 year-old campers to discern if they would like to be a counselor and completion makes their staff application stronger, but does not guarantee a position as a counselor.  Applications will be sent after individuals register for the CIT or WIT programs.
