Howdy friends! Today was another incredible day at Flat Rock, and unfortunately, the last full day of camp. We went out with a bang, though! We kicked off our day with breakfast sandwiches, and chapel! After chapel, we split into groups and rotated the groups between swimming at the Decatur County YMCA and a planetarium presentation on camp! Kids had so much fun breaking from the cold weather to swim! For lunch we enjoyed chicken patty or Barbecue sandwiches and corndogs! After resting for siesta, we split into three groups and decorated cookies, learned about earth and life science in our nature center, or learned fire-building in winter survival! Teens also had an opportunity to do teen stuff! We had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn for dinner, and everyone enjoyed that so much! After dinner, we sent everyone through their last round of tradin’ post, and set up for closing campfire. Closing campfire was very special as always as we celebrate the week with skits and songs, and slow down the evening to really show gratitude for the amazing time we have had! We inaugurated a new tradition here at Flat Rock, and introduced and awarded our very first #CharacterCoin! The Character Coin is voted on by the counseling staff and awarded to the male and female camper that we felt really showed that they have adopted and exemplify our four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility! Lily Overpeck and Aden Hamilton were awarded our first ever Character Coins for being outstanding and exemplary campers! What an amazing day! As always, be sure to check out the gallery!
