Family Camp

Flat Rock River YMCA Camp offers a unique and unforgettable family camping experience. Your Family Camp experience includes meals, lodging, and full-array of activities. Meals are served family style in our lodge. Families are housed in our rustic, cabins or yurts. We provide an action-packed weekend. Our full-array of activities are for everyone in your family and every skill level. Flat Rock staff maintain current first-aid and lifeguard certifications from the Red Cross to ensure our commitment to safety. Flat Rock River YMCA Family Camp is a fantastic opportunity for families to spend time together in the beautiful outdoors while having an unlimited variety of activities to choose from. Space is limited for these fantastic programs.

Spring Family Camp: April 3 – 5, 2020 
Mother Daughter Weekend: May 1 – 3, 2020
Memorial Day Family Camp: May 23 – 25, 2020
Labor Day Family Camp: September 5 – 7, 2020
Father Son Weekend: September 27 – 29, 2019

General Activities

HikingLove a sense of adventure? Take your family on a hike around beautiful Flat Rock River YMCA Camp while here for Family Camp. Our staff also lead night hikes for families to get a chance to learn about the nocturnal side of our camp!

BoatingOur pond is perfectly suited for Canoeing, Kayaking and Stand Up Paddle boarding. All guests wear life vests and practice good water safety with lifeguards present. Canoeing is available at all Family Camps. Kayaking and Stand Up Paddle boarding is available for Memorial Day and Labor Day Family Camps only.  

Camp Games–  Enjoy playing Capture the Flag, Basketball, Volleyball, Life-size Chess, Tetherball, and many more camp games with your family.

FishingEnjoy sitting on our dock and fishing into Lake Talesce. We offer kid friendly poles that making fishing with little ones easy.

Alpine TowerChallenge your ingenuity and agility as you scale the 50-foot Alpine Tower. Alpine Tower is one of Flat Rocks most unique outdoor activities. Families and individuals have made this challenging and memorable experience a “must do” during their stay. Attached to our 50 foot alpine tower is our 30 foot swing. Climbers must be wearing closed toe shoes for this activity.

Arts and Crafts Our craft area is open morning and afternoons and offers campers the opportunity to create a wide range of unique projects including tie-dying, beads, bracelet making, leathers, and wood working.

Archery This is a great opportunity for a basic introduction to the sport of Archery. 

Target Sports – Trained staff supervises both our riflery and shotgun ranges. Must be over the age of 12 for our shotgun range.

Horseback RidingOur equine staff will offer trail and corral rides. To enjoy a trail you must be 10 years old and over. To enjoy a corral ride you must 4 years old. Our staff is trained to accommodate riders of skill levels. Horseback riding requires long pants and closed- toe shoes. Horseback riding is offered at Memorial Day Family Camp, Labor Day Family Camp, and Mother Daughter Weekend. 

Zip line Race your family through the air with our zip line. Must have close- toe shoes for this activity.

Water Fun– Head on over to Lake Talesce where you can find canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards. That’s not all!  Slide down our Wet Willie Slide, a giant water slide that will send you  down into the lake to cool off.  Once you’ve tried our slide you will also want to use our rope swing to plunge into the water.  All of our water activities are based on weather. 

Pool– Our pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  Bring a suit and enjoy our aqua climbing wall and mini water slide.

Nature Programs Our resident naturalists can help introduce you to much of the diverse flora and fauna around camp. Nature hikes down to the river, stargazing, river ecology and wild edibles are just a few highlights.

Evening ProgramsEnjoy some of our special guests that have been known to show up at our Family Camps.  You never know if its going to be a Silly Safari, a fun improv show, crazy balloon animals, and or a family friendly concert.  Evening time is also a great time to enjoy s’mores around a campfire with your family.
