Camp Health Officer

What is a Camp Health Officer? The primary purpose of this volunteer assignment is to provide additional support to the health and safety operations for YMCA resident camp programs at Flat Rock River YMCA Camp. We often times refer to this position as the Cam Nurse, although this position is not limited to Nursing. The applicant must have a current license as a LPN, RN, Nurse Practitioner, Physicians Assistant, or Medical Doctor. Experience in resident camp preferred. Must possess good human relations skills and demonstrate the ability to interact positively with participants, parents, members etc within that program area. Activities may include: Check in process and health screening of campers. Reception of and distribution of camper and staff medications. Advise on the operation of the infirmary, provide coverage when staff is working in camp, and support the staff in first aid when necessary. Help with recommendations regarding health and safety protocols at camp and assist in ensuring compliance with the American Camp Association Health and Safety Standard. Monitor first aid logs to identify trends and advise Executive Director regarding any concerns.
